STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Like any business organization, schools must build a solid identity through strategic planning to ensure success. More importantly, as IB® schools share the same academic framework, their profile and competitiveness must be enhanced through tailored initiatives that may include key partnerships, certifications, and advanced resources.
To result in a strategic fit, development plans must ensure consistency and alignment with internal and external environments. Consequently, before any target implementation, the school context and current practices must be assessed, while the dependencies recognized. This responds to the present-day principle of the Contingency Theory, which states that there’s no single best way of organizing or managing, as it mostly depends on the circumstances and the organization’s environment.
Clear and manageable deadlines, along with the risk assessment, are also vital characteristics for the overall sustainability of the plans. Lastly, creativity and intuition are essential to effective strategies, provided systematic analysis is integral to the strategy process.
